Public Scholarship and Engagement now accepting applications for the first cohort of the Public Scholarship Faculty Fellows program.
This faculty development program, set to run in fall quarter 2020 through winter quarter 2021, aims to support individuals working on academic publications by organizing a public scholarship peer group, facilitating structured time for advancing a peer-review manuscript or academic book chapter, coordinating internal peer group feedback, and identifying dissemination outlets.
This year’s program will include monthly meetings from October 2020 to March 2021. Some of the topics the program will address include: Identifying appropriate academic journals, presses, and book series; negotiating the role of community/partner voice in the dissemination of public scholarship products; and communicating the value of public scholarship in merit and promotion applications.
Through the Public Scholarship Faculty Fellows program, Public Scholarship and Engagement will provide concrete tools and facilitate opportunities for UC Davis faculty members across all disciplines to develop works emerging from public scholarship that will collectively help foster a culture of engagement at UC Davis. Fellows who complete the program will receive a one-time award of $1,000 in an Academic Enrichment Fund (AEF).
All full-time members of the Academic Senate and non-represented Academic Federation members, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply by June 15, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their application status no later than July 15, 2020.
Details about the eligibility criteria and application procedures are fully described on the Public Scholarship Faculty Fellows program webpage. Questions concerning the program should be directed to Ingrid Behrsin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
