Public Scholarship and Engagement
Martha joins UC Davis and the Office of Public Scholarship and Engagement after a career as an educational administrator and project manager in California community colleges and as an education specialist for KQED-TV. An early pioneer in online learning, she served as the Director of the California Virtual Campus, Bay Area Region 1 (2000-2006) where she led centralized start-up support services and training for a consortium of colleges involved in launching new online learning initiatives. She later joined Yuba College (2007-2014) as Dean of Distance Education, Media Services and Library Resources where she co-chaired a re-envisioning of library services and the renovation of the Learning Resource Center with focus given to expanding informal learning spaces and maximizing access to student support services. Martha holds a MA in Management from John F. Kennedy University with an emphasis on Organizational Development and building learning communities. She obtained a BS in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She is committed to supporting visionary stewardship of resources, innovation and inclusiveness resulting in dynamic and responsive environments for collaboration and success.
