This is why we work hard to publish and promote first-person blogs written by UC Davis-affiliated public scholars. These blogs, however, are the personal accounts and opinions of the individual writers and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Public Scholarship and Engagement or UC Davis. We feel it is important that these scholars can share their genuine experiences about public scholarship.

Funded by a grant from California Humanities and co-sponsored by the UC Davis Department of African and African American Studies and the Center for Sacramento History, the Reframing Sacramento Series examines the history, diverse communities,  and current climate of the city, emphasizing those voices that have too often been left out.

UC helps home cooks turn their passion into profits

The UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (UC SAREP), a statewide program of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, is working with the COOK Alliance, a coalition of home cooks and their supporters, to organize a virtual convening of home cooks, their advocates and county officials and staff.

UC Davis Student Elected to City Council

In an election year with record turnout among young voters, 22-year-old Hipolito Angelito Cerros took civic engagement a step beyond most of his peers. Cerros, a science and technology studies (STS) major at UC Davis, won a seat on the city council in his hometown of Lindsay, in California’s Central Valley.

Public Impact Research Partner Featured in the Film "Gather"

Through a Public Impact Research Initiative seed grant, Associate Professor Katherine Kim from the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing and the School of Medicine has been working with the Nature Rights Council to enhance the Yurok Tribe's capacity for health disparities research and program evaluation, as well as strengthen the quality of university’s community-engaged research.
