ENGAGE! editors invite the submission of manuscripts, as well as pieces reflecting the visual and performing arts, for the next volume to be published in 2022 in three issues.
Published by the IUPUI Office of Community Engagement, ENGAGE! is committed to advancing the field of community-engaged research (CEnR) and community-based participatory research (CBPR) evaluation and assessment in urban settings, nationally and internationally. A key component of the journal is that articles must be conceptualized, written and disseminated with a community partner. We invite empirical, conceptual, and theoretical articles that make substantial contributions to the field.
For 2022, we consider the following areas to be pressing and in need of focused exploration:
- Arts’ Roles in Fostering Community Well Being, Alain Barker (Guest Editor), Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University
- Exodus and Entry: The Challenges and Promises of Refugee and Immigrant Supports, Thu Sương Thị Nguyen (Guest Editor) School of Education, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis
- Amplifying Student Voices and Community Schools, Terri Jett (Guest Editor), Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies Department, Butler University

ENGAGE! is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original work with a double-blind peer-review process. Acceptance is on the basis of appropriateness, clarity, sound methodology, and utility for CEnR/CBPR. Articles are indexed or abstracted in Social Service Abstracts.
We have an open access policy and there are no charges for processing. As a community-university journal with a broad, multilingual readership, clear, accessible language is strongly encouraged. Thus, avoid using technical and scientific terms that only academic readers are likely to understand. If you need to use these terms, include definitions and footnotes. Pieces should be free of racial, religious, gender, ethnic, or any other form of bias. Submissions must not be under consideration elsewhere and must be previously unpublished. Using a 12 point, Times New Roman font. The length of articles should be no more than 6,000 words including references and appendixes.
