Public Scholarship and Engagement is spearheading Catalyzing Impact, a multi-year initiative to document and improve the impact of university-community partnerships and public engagement activities.
These efforts will build the necessary infrastructure and mechanisms for on-going data collection, assessment and communication of public impact.
Implementation and Milestones
Catalyzing Impact is coordinated with support from a Steering Committee and three specialized working groups focusing on community partnerships, assessment and communications. These groups began their work in January 2024, with milestones set from May 2024 through April 2025. The culmination of their work will be the submission of the Carnegie Reclassification application in April 2025, which will also inform a strategy for sustainable investment in understanding and evaluating public impact and community partnerships at UC Davis.
Key Goals
- Strengthen collaborations between coordinating units involved in public impact and community engagement
- Enhance understanding of public impact within and outside of the institution
- Develop strategies for capacity building to support work of public impact at UC Davis
A Commitment to Positive Change
As part of Catalyzing Impact’s multi-year process to document and assess the impact of community partnerships and engagement activities at UC Davis, PSE and the Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion held two summits in 2023 to establish and define core values that will guide a unified vision for community engagement across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. Summit participants identified opportunities for growth and a path forward to strengthen community engagement at UC Davis.
