Bio

What I Do 

As the Community Partner Coordinator, I am responsible for developing partnerships with K-12 schools and non-profit associations for the Sacramento Valley College Corps (SVCC).  SVCC fellows will be serving schools and organizations focusing on tutoring, mentoring, climate action, and food insecurity. To apply to become a fellow, a student must be attending UC Davis, CSU Sacramento, Woodland Community College, or Sacramento City College and be financially disadvantaged or have undocumented status. SVCC is funded by the Office of the Governor, the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps initiative

More About Me 

With over 25 years in higher education and non-profit work, I have experience teaching intercultural communication and social justice and co-creating programs with and for underserved students and communities.  In a previous position, I developed a service-learning program focusing on social justice issues in health care.

Research Interests 

Currently pursuing an Ed.D. in educational leadership from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.  Dissertation focus is on youth voice in service-learning and community engagement partnerships with higher education institutions. Research interests include critical service-learning and youth participatory action research.
