2020 Year in Review
For the Public Good: 2020 Year in Review reflects the programmatic achievements and collaborative projects Public Scholarship and Engagement was involved with during the first full year of operation.
Implementation Framework
Public Scholarship for the Public Good: An Implementation Framework for UC Davis was created as an institutional guide for the university community to begin implementing changes that shift the way the university works to support publicly-engaged research, teaching, and learning, and to more explicitly account for the critical role that the public’s knowledge and needs play in both the research process and learning outcomes.
Provost's Work Group on Public Scholarship Final Report
In 2020, a group of faculty representing all four colleges and six professional schools convened to explore ways to achieve greater recognition of public scholarship at UC Davis. Their specific charge was to: a) identify barriers to public scholarship, b) explore strategies to reward and recognize public scholarship, and c) recommend changes to institutional policies and practices, where appropriate. The recommendations in this report were identified by work group members as having the most significant impact to sufficiently reward and recognize public scholarship at UC Davis.
Charting the Future of Experiential Learning at UC Davis
Following a February 28, 2020 gathering, work group members from Public Scholarship and Engagement, the Internship and Career Center, Global Affairs, Undergraduate Education, the Mike and Renee Child Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Office of the Provost: STEM Strategies produced a report to summarize outcomes of the Charting the Future of Experiential Learning at UC Davis Symposium: a Campuswide Approach. The report identifies next steps to increase access, participation and recognition of student, staff, and faculty engagement in the broad spectrum of experiential learning activities currently in place or planned at UC Davis.
