Overview
The SVCC Consortium is offering funds to current host site partners for activities and items that will support their capacity to host SVCC Fellows, particularly in Year 2 (2023-24). Funds may also be requested to support current Fellows. This can include developing Fellow training and orientation, training and education for Fellow supervisors, and purchasing memberships or subscriptions that will enhance your organization’s ability to host Fellows. Examples of funding ideas can be found below.
Please review the sections below to understand the application process, applicant eligibility, funding eligibility and process, and budget considerations.

Application and Process
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on February 24.
The application consists of the online application form and budget worksheet, which must be attached to your application. For the application form, you will need to provide the following information:
- Contact information (Name, email, phone)
- Organization information (Org name, annual operating budget, staff size, focus area, current and estimated Fellows)
- Narrative Questions
- Describe your budget request(s). How will the requested budget items enhance your organization’s capacity to host SVCC Fellows? How will budget items support future or current Fellows?
- If requesting contract funding, what are the intended deliverables?
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of SVCC Consortium members (administrators, advisors and Fellows). Applicants will be emailed with clarifications, if needed. All applicants will be notified of their status once decisions are made
Applicant Eligibility
Current SVCC host site partners (2022-23) are eligible to apply for and receive funds. To support equity across host site partners, priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate a need for building capacity to host Fellows. Funding is available on a one-time basis for this grant year only. Future opportunities for grant funding are dependent on fund availability
Funding Eligibility & Process
Funding is available for activities and items that will enhance the applicants capacity to host and supervise SVCC Fellows in the 2023-24 program year. There are two different options for funding — contract or subaward.
Contract funding must outline a clear timeline and deliverables. This option allows for the host site partner to cover staff salary for work on deliverables.
Subaward funding must outline a clear timeline and detailed budget of anticipated expenses related to the proposed activities. This option may take longer to be cleared to spend funds; however, there is more flexibility in the funding amount and spending.
Both options administer funds on a reimbursement basis and must support the host site partner’s capacity to host fellows in the 2023-24 program year. Accepted applicants will need to sign terms and become a UC Davis vendor (SVCC staff will support the host organization in this process; no action required before the application is submitted). Funds cannot be spent until the organization is officially approved (SVCC staff will notify the organization once they are approved).
While there is no limit to the amount requested, funds are limited. Thus, budget requests may be partially funded.
Examples of eligible projects can be located below.
Budget Considerations
Budget requests must:
- Enhance organizational capacity to host SVCC Fellows in the 2023-24 academic year or support current SVCC Fellows.
- Comply with 2 CRF 200.
The following are allowable costs for this grant:
- Travel (must use GSA rates)
- Training and education
- Material and supplies
- Memberships, subscriptions, and professional activity costs
- Publication and printing costs
- Salary (allowable for contract option only)
Applicants can include an indirect rate in their budget request.
The budget worksheet must be filled out and submitted with your application.
Grant Reporting
Because the grant is on a reimbursement basis, recipients will need to submit financial reports that document the grant expenditures. Funds will not be dispersed without the required documentation. Our team will provide guidance and templates for these reports.
Additionally, grant recipients will be asked to fill out a survey at the end of the grant period. There are no other report requirements for this grant.
Sample/examples
Below are several examples to demonstrate the types of requests that we will fund, and help inspire project ideas. Examples are labeled with “C” for contract or “S” for subaward. Contract funding can be spent sooner, but requires deliverables.
Future Fellow Orientation and/or Training (S or C)
Funds can be requested to develop your organization’s 2023-24 Fellow orientation or training activities. This can include developing and printing orientation materials, purchasing books, manuals or other materials for your Fellow orientation. If requesting subaward funding, an indirect rate can be used to cover administrative costs of creating the orientation. If requesting contract funding, salary can be included in your budget.
Education (S)
Funds can be requested for education of current Fellows and/or Fellow supervisors (current and future). This can include purchasing books, attending conferences or training (online or in-person), and purchasing memberships or subscriptions that support organizational capacity. Please note, any travel must be completed by August 31, 2023. Please see the list below of suggested conferences, training and memberships.
Peer Learning (S)
Funds can be requested to learn from other host sites locally, regionally or throughout the state. This can include funds to support learning from other SVCC or College Corps programs from your focus area, region, population served, etc. You may plan and manage a series of meetings, educational gatherings, or other events for you and other host sites locally, or connect with other College Corps sites in another part of the state.
