COVID-19 Resources

How Public Scholarship and Engagement is Responding

UC Davis faculty, staff and students are working tirelessly to transition to online instruction, but we know community engaged research and learning present unique challenges during mandated shelter-in-place. This webpage includes relevant resources, as well as information for current grantees and program participants.

Resources for Teaching

  • Keep Teaching: Strategies and Resources for Instructional Resilience
To support UC Davis faculty during a time of COVID-19-related illness, quarantine, or campus closure, this website provides concise, practical resources and strategies for moving part or all of a course online to help you keep teaching.
  • Experiential Learning Sympa List
There are questions and challenges that arise around experiential learning opportunities during this time of uncertainty. In response to these and other issues, a virtual community of practice for staff and faculty is being created through an email listserv to raise issues, share resources, and discuss ways to ensure students are able to participate in experiential learning.
  • Teaching in Times of Crisis from the Center for Teaching at Vanderbilt
Whether local, national, or international in scope, times of crisis can have a significant impact on the college classroom. The resulting anxieties students—and teachers—bring into the classroom in response to a crisis can affect student learning, as documented by psychological, cognitive, and neuroscience research. A 2007 survey by Therese A. Huston and Michelle DiPietro reveals that “from the students’ perspective, it is best to do something. There are many possibilities for how to address a crisis in class, from activities that take only a moment to restructuring your entire course, and plenty in between.

Resources for Learning

  • Counseling Services Just a Call Away
Help is still available for students who need it: Even though the UC Davis community is living and learning remotely, counseling and other mental health support is available by phone, video conferencing and more.
  • UC Davis Student Affairs COVID-19 FAQ

  • Keep Teaching Student Resources
If you need access to a laptop or free wi-fi, or help adjusting to distance learning - either in the U.S. or internationally, this webpage can point you to available resources.
  • Internship and Career Center
The Internship and Career Center is open remotely and ready to help students who are looking for part-time or temporary jobs. The center’s “Quick Hire” list has local/regional opportunities for immediate staffing needs to provide essential services during the national health crisis.
  • Virtual Community Engaged Learning Programs
Students looking to engage in global community service virtually, provide services to an organization or community online, or act globally while staying locally should view the list of related resources and opportunities on the Global Learning Hub website.
